SUMMARY OF THE EVENT

2nd National Congress on Regenerative Medicine

2nd National Congress on Regenerative Medicine will take place in Moscow from December 3-5. Key speaker at the congress will be Prof. Vladimir Mironov, Head of Research of the Laboratory for Biotechnological Research at 3D Bioprinting Solutions. He will make a report headlined “Bioprinting of Thyroid Gland.”

3D bioprinting and 3D printing with materials containing live cells is currently at the frontier of additive technologies used in medicine and health care. Bioprinting is part of regenerative medicine, and is aimed at the fabrication of tissue and organ constructs for transplantation. Vladimir Mironov will address these matters in his report.

Also, the report will be a formal presentation of the accomplished bioprinting of a mouse thyroid gland. As was reported earlier, a successful bioprinting of an organ construct using Russia’s first bioprinter, FABION, was carried out on March 15, 2015.

The printed construct helped restoring thyroid function in animals with modelled hypothyroidism. The structure of transplanted construct was found to correspond to the normal structure of mouse thyroid.

Further, the report will feature the main principles and phases of 3D bioprinting and present the main participants of the industry.

During three days, the conference will host reports on the new methods of biofabrication, tissue engineering, and new materials used in biotechnologies.
