SUMMARY OF THE EVENT

3D Bioprinting Solutions -- investments in the future

A successful startup begins fr om the idea. Want to know what ideas can develop into businesses, what difficulties may be encountered, how to overcome them, how to secure a position on the market and where to find financial support? Answers to these questions can be found at the Startup Village-2015 conference, in which the Laboratory for Biotechnological Research of 3D Bioprinting Solutions is taking part this year. Exhibition stands, including that of the Laboratory, will be displayed outdoors at the site of the future city of Skolkovo from June 2-3.

The conference is held for a third time now and has been attracting increasing attention. Startup Village-2014 gathered over 8,000 participants and more are expected to come this year. The event will gather innovators, investors, experts and journalists seeking to get acquainted with project promotion techniques, to find out whether startups are needed by major corporation and wh ere it is best to invest money today to harvest more tomorrow. A government delegation led by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev is expected to show up. Incidentally, the prime minister has expressed interest in innovative projects in various fields of research and technology, including bioprinting.

The Laboratory for Biotechnological Research of 3D Bioprinting Solutions” is the only private company in Russia developing its own 3D bioprinting technology, which has created its won bioprinter of original design. The laboratory’s team sets ambitious goals and successfully achieves them on time. “It is very important for us to move ahead from one milestone to other, to reach the targets we set for ourselves and to obtain appropriate results, -- said Alexander Ostrovsky, a businessman investing in the technology’s development in Russia. -- Now we have reached our third milestone and continue moving strictly along the path we set for ourselves.”

Here it is worth recalling that the first milestone was the opening of the laboratory with financial support from INVITRO. In the beginning of 2013, the team of 3D Bioprinting Solutions announced their ambitions to bring bioprinting into existence in Russia, and in the fall of 2013, at the laboratory’s official launch, they promised to create their own bioprinter of original design in not more than one year. And they kept the promise. Then, at the presentation of Russia’s first bioprinter, they made even more sensational announcement -- that in the spring of 2015 they would print a mouse thyroid gland. And they did! The chance to talks to Alexander Ostrovsky in person will be on June 3, beside the laboratory’s stand. Also, there will be a presentation of Russia’s first bioprinter, FABION, which has aroused interest in the government delegation led by Dmitry Medvedev.

As usual, the event’s program consists of three parts. There will be a conference featuring competent speakers making reports on the subjects interesting for startups, a display of project and a contest of startups.

350 teams will compete in the contest of business ideas. Prizes are set at RUB 3 mln (1st prize), RUB 2 mln (2nd prize) and RUB 1 mln (3rd prize).

In addition to that, there will be special prizes from the event’s foreign participants.

Foreign guests of Startup Village will present master classes, host seminars and take part in round tables on such topics as space technologies, biomedical and nuclear technologies, energy efficiency, IT and telecoms.
